Before starting cat behavior training it is wise to spend some time learning about your cat and what actually makes it tick. It is surprising how little cat owners actually know about their pets. The more understanding that you have your cat, the easier it will be to train your cat.

Ok let's start with how a cat is built. The bone structure of a cat differs greatly from other mammals. Your cat does not have a collar bone. This enables them to perform acrobatics without injuring themselves. Cats are also extremely flexible.

Another gift that cats posses is their ability to smell. A cats smell is different to any other cat. This is behind the reasons why cats like to rub against you. It is their way of marking their territory. This means 2 things. Firstly the cat is telling other cats that this place belongs to it, so keep away. Secondly when your cat rubs up against you, it is basically claiming ownership of you. Being aware of this is advantageous towards successful cats behavior training.

When you are trying to train your cat or trying to change your cats behavior, it is best to remember that cats have certain instinctive behaviors, and many times they need to see this type of behavior through. Either on its own or through some form of play where you may be involved.

A cats behavior will often change if it hasn't got anything to occupy its attention. This will occur if your cat feels that you are holding back on being attentative to it. Your cat can become unhappy if there has been another cat in the house, and it has been removed for whatever reason. You may consider a visit to the vets. This will be a way of checking your cats health, and no doubt your vet will give you some tips on how to make your cat happier.

Never try to hit your cat or yell at if you want your cat beavior training to be successful. This will alienate your cat, which will make it very hard to train. Cats prefer to be praised and getting attention. If you try to force your cat to change its behavior, you will just end up breaking the bond between the two of you.

In conclusion, spend some time learning about your cat. Set yourself a goal to learn about your pets behavior and its moods. Knowing these things will allow you much greater success when it comes to cats behavior training.
